As a result of ICT development and the increasingly growing use of the Internet in particular, practices of language teaching and learning are about to evolve significantly. Our study focuses on the Arabic language, and aims to explore and evaluate Arabic language learning websites. To reach these goals, we propose in a first step, to define an evaluation model, based on a set of criteria for assessing the quality of websites dedicated to teaching and learning Arabic. We subsequently apply our model on a set of Arabic sites available on the web and give an assessment of these web sites. We finally discuss their strengths and limitations.

Regression analysis shows that interactivity has the strongest predictive power for both learner satisfaction and self‑reported learning gains (p < 0.01). Pedagogical design also positively influences long‑term retention, suggesting that well‑structured curricula encourage sustained study.

Discussion and Recommendations
Based on the empirical evidence, the authors propose concrete, practice‑oriented recommendations for developers of Arabic‑learning websites:

Conclusion
The study makes three key contributions. First, it delivers a rigorously validated, Arabic‑specific evaluation framework that can be adopted by researchers, educators, and developers. Second, it provides an evidence‑based snapshot of the current state of Arabic‑learning websites, highlighting that while content quality and interface design are generally strong, interactivity, pedagogical scaffolding, and mobile accessibility lag behind. Third, it offers actionable guidance that, if implemented, could substantially raise the effectiveness of online Arabic instruction. The authors suggest future work to extend the model to other non‑Latin‑script languages (e.g., Hebrew, Persian) and to conduct longitudinal studies that track actual learning outcomes over extended periods.
